Talk to you 04:01
I wanna talk to you all night I wanna talk to you all night I wanna talk to you all night And see the dawn's early I wanna make you feel alright I wanna make you feel alright I wanna make you feel alright But all I ever do is make you cry There's a knocking at my door There's a knocking at my door But there's no one at my door Just a cold wind blowing leaves across my door I found a letter on the bed Found a letter on the bed I found a letter on the bed I tried to open it but my finger bled I wanna talk to you all night I wanna talk to you all night I wanna talk to you all night I wanna talk to you all night And see the dawn's early

Well, I met you at the East Brunswick Club The Brothers Grim were playing 'Dirty Dog' You were pretty and young, and you walked so proud Looking at you I wanted to cry and howl I met you in the summer time And you and the season seemed to rhyme You were warm and tan, and you made me smile And looking at you I needed to shield my eyes Everything seemed to go to plan Just as I'd hoped you reached and took my hand When we first fucked it was winter time Billie Holiday was singin' about dyin' And remember as I moved in you That Holy Dove, she was moving too They say that there's a god above But all I learned from your sweet love Is that everything changes, nothing stays And that which you try to keep will fly away Everything seemed to go to plan Just as I'd hoped you reached and took my hand But you led me 'round and broke me down And now I'm lying here heartbroken And now everything that seems to go to plan Makes me hang my head; makes me close my hand 'Cause you led me 'round and broke my down And now I'm lying here heartbroken You led me 'round and broke me down Tore my feet right off he ground Remade me; as a child newborn And you twisted me this crown of thorns Well, I met you at the East Brunswick Club The Brothers Grim were playing 'Dirty Dog' You were pretty and young, and you walked so proud Looking at you I wanted to cry and howl

Sweet face 04:04
You've got a sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet face But it makes me sour, sour, sour, sour grapes 'Cause it's just a cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap little taste Of what I can never, never, never, never possess Hey this is a neat, neat, neat, neat little place you got here I wanna burn it to the ground, ground, ground, grind to dust 'Cause you've got that sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet face And it's burning up my soul, it's making me whol- ly split in slivers; broken mirrors Show my best side You say such sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet little things to me They sting like fire, fire, fire, they burn me down 'Cause they're just a cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap little way To keep your distance, distance, distance, you're far from me Hey this is a neat, neat, neat, neat little place you got here I wanna heave it in the sea, sea, sea, and see it sink 'Cause you've got that sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet face And it's burning up my soul, it's making me whol- ly split in slivers; broken mirrors Show my best side It's burning up my hours; for love like mine just drowns It's host like a river; it's a broken mirror That shows my best side

Split in two 04:53
Sweet Maria, with your raven hair, You tear me up with a glance When I see ya, and I won't you dear See you dancing quick and pretty Sipping goon and talking politics Your eyes so blue, your curves so true Your smile delightful darlin', I wanna hold you But my hands are on fire And you don't know how You don't know how Rachael honey, you're too good for me, But I'd never tell you that You're a drinker, but you're never drunk You tell me stories they fall like rain And I am thirsty as a dying man You guide me through this city, barroom angel at my side I wanna hold you But you slide out of reach And you don't know how You don't know how I've been split in two from longing for you And longing for you I've been split in three from longing for thee, And longing for thee, and longing for thee I've been split in four just longing for more C'mon gimme some more Little Layna, with your tender eyes, You've got a way with me You're still a stranger after all this time You're a mystery to me And I'm addicted to the inquiry I'm older than you darlin', but I know you're always schooling me And I'm eager; I'll kneel at your feet And you don't know how You don't know how There's time enough I feel And there's too little time to say there isn't There's love enough I feel It shows too little love to say there isn't And all these wounds will heal There's life enough, don't say there isn't I've been split in two from longing for you And longing for you I've been split in three from longing for thee, And longing for thee, and longing for thee I've been split in four just longing for more C'mon gimme some more

Knotted pine 05:53
Staring at the headlights of the cars As they float past; you broke my heart Sitting with my friend, I'm staring at the sky Giving sad replies; you broke my heart Staring at your number in my phone Just leave it alone; I'm drunk again Writing down all I wanna say Just throw it away; I'm drunk again You are looking happy doing fine And it twists my mind; is your heart flesh like mine? Wish I knew just how you tell a lie With the sweetest smile; your heart's knotted pine

about

Burnt letters is a Melbourne project featuring local songsmith Kinch Kinski and writer and singer Lou Pine. Burnt letters is all about lush vocal harmonies and well-crafted songs. They’re part alt-country, part blues, part folk and part good old fashioned rock'n'roll.

After a successful Pozible campaign that raised over $3500, Burnt letters have a new self-titled EP ready for release on April 6 2014. Recorded over two months in Kinch's garage and Lou's lounge room, the EP features a collection of songs dealing with love, lust, loss, and obsession. The EP is not self-titled for convenience—these songs are like letters that couldn't be sent, that had to be burned.

The EP features guest singers from the Melbourne Mass Gospel Choir, gorgeous cello parts written and recorded by Camilla Tafra (Brisbane Baroque Players), and haunting, cinematic cimbalom work from Andre Bonetti (Greshka).

Burnt letters will launch their new EP on April 5 at the Retreat Hotel with special guests the Acfields, Reflex Rex and more.
